Sunset Beach Hotel

Well, where would you like me to start. There is no beach, it has been washed away unless you are happy to walk through stagnant water. The majority of our party were ill. If you are due to come, please call your travel agent since, hotel is to be avoided at all costs at the moment. If it wasn’t for the staff at this hotel, it would have been quite unpleasant 😢

Staff very friendly and helpful. Food always hot and salad fresh chef would always cater for individual needs, rooms basic but comfortable use local guides for trips very informative at a fraction of the cost only downside poor beach access

This is without doubt the friendliest hotel i have ever been to. The staff here are amazing, absolutely nothing is too much trouble. They genuinely want your stay to be the best holiday you can experience The rooms are basic but we had a really comfy bed in a fully air-conditioned room The room is cleaned daily and done well This is an all-inclusive hotel, and I must say the quality of drinks is great. My special mojitos and the other cocktails were fab. The bar and entertainment staff are so helpful and friendly and they work so hard Special mention must go to all the catering staff and the fantastic chefs who prepared our food. The food was hot,plentiful, and full of flavour. They really ensured there was something for everyone, especially for me, who is lactose intolerant. If I wanted anything without cheese, ect, it was made special. I have been at other all-inclusive hotels where the food was mediocre but not here. The Gambian prawns and seafood were amongst the best I have ever tasted anywhere in the world This is my 1st time in the Gambia, but the Sunset Beach hotel will he my regular winter break hotel going forward. We love this hotel our 5th visit the staff are fabulous please bear in mind this is the Gambia not the uk ! The food is tasty and you good choice here , they will bend over backwards to accommodate you if your not happy with the menu choices we have always found the choice to be varied and very adequate we have stayed in 4 star hotels here and found the food here to be better no hotel is ever perfect you can’t please everyone all of the time it’s easier to complain than praise . The Hotel has so many repeat visitors this is for a reason ITS SPECIAL . The bathrooms are in need of an update this is fact but if you take an overall view and want a really friendly place to stay you will be hard pushed to beat it

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever been to dirty rooms, unpleasant staff, terrible cold food ,I have never complained so much about the cleanliness of a hotel. No temperature checks on food, glasses and plastic tumblers rinsed under a tap, no clean towels around pool

My first visit/holiday in The Gambia and I have had the most amazing time in such a beautiful country. It was absolutely fantastic and I loved everything about it. Sunset Beach Hotel is lovely, set right on the beach with beautiful, well maintained gardens. I stayed in one of the bungalow style rooms which was spacious, had character with its lovely wooden beams and was kept spotlessly clean throughout my stay. I had a problem with my shower on one day, but it was very quickly rectified by the efficient maintenance team. I liked that there was a safe in the room and the WiFi was good in my room and everywhere else at the hotel. The food was excellent at every meal time, with plenty of choice to suit and the chefs were very friendly and wanted to make sure you enjoyed and were happy with the choices available. The bar staff and waiters were so attentive and always made sure that you had drinks, whether in the restaurant or by the pool, and kept tables clean. The pool attendants worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone had a sunbed where you wanted to be, put towels out for you, and throughout the day made sure that umbrellas were available and moved to keep the heat of the sun off, if that's what was required. The entertainment at the hotel was very good and varied, providing something to keep everyone happy, including traditional African drumming and dancing. The daytime team made sure that they spoke to and got to know and showed interest in each guest. I could single out, name and thank individual staff members - but I don't think that would be fair, as the whole team were amazing throughout my stay. Extremely friendly, courteous and efficient and really couldn't do enough for you to ensure that you had a great time. I would, without doubt, highly recommend The Gambia and Sunset Beach Hotel and all it has to offer.  Along with the trips I did - Roots/Kunta Kinteh island, Fathala safari in Senegal, Monster truck/South Gambia tour and The Lazy River cruise, I had such a fabulous experience. Everywhere I went, the people I met were so welcoming and friendly and I can definitely understand why it's called 'the smiling coast of Africa'. I will most certainly be returning to The Gambia and Sunset Beach Hotel, and can't wait to be back.
